Biography

Originally from Eastern Shore of Maryland, Kim grew up boating with her family on the rivers and waterways of the Chesapeake Bay. At age 20, she moved to California, spending a few years skiing and working in Tahoe before settling in San Diego. In 1993, she landed a job at Harbor Sailboats, a sailing club and ASA school on San Diego Bay. This quickly turned into a management position, where she not only managed the charter reservations but organized club events and arranged ASA sailing classes as well as multiple flotillas in the Caribbean and Tahiti. During this time, she earned her ASA Bareboat certification and celebrated by skippering a 42’ catamaran in Tahiti with her family. When her son was born a year later, she decided to start her own web design business so that she could work from home. After designing and managing over 100 websites over 15 years, she decided it was time to get back to boating.

In 2015, she started working part-time at Harbor Island Yacht Club, a long-time web design client. A few years later, her old friend Kurt Jerman, owner of West Coast Multihulls and a Denison Yachting broker, asked her if she would consider working for him a few days a week. With catamaran sales going through the roof and the charter and sailing school business growing rapidly, Kim jumped at the opportunity. After assisting Kurt with yacht sales for two years, Kim secured her own license to sell boats and now she and Kurt work together as a team. Kurt specializes in catamarans, while Kim focuses on power yachts and sailboats.

As an avid networker, Kim is a member of San Diego Yachting Professionals (an organization made up of women in the marine business). She is also the founder of the San Diego Women Sailing group, where the main objective is to provide sailing opportunities for women, whether it be fun day sails, racing opportunities, educational clinics, or exotic sailing vacations. Kim is the proud owner of her own Catalina 320 sailboat, which she takes out often.

She truly enjoys people and goes the extra mile to ensure that her clients are happy and understand the purchasing and listing process.
